He will fight for you

fullsizeoutput_1d84

God will, at times, command you to remain silent while He handles the battle. This is where it gets me every time. The urgency to have the last word and give the other person a piece of my mind. At the worst, when I feel backed into a corner under attack, the fire is brewing in the back of my throat, on the verge to let slip out some swear words. Or hit them with so much meaningful truth, the aftermath would be damaging. The still small voice deep inside gets louder and louder. (Jesus will keep poking at you to remind you to be quiet, OUCH!, LOL!). I have to let it go (lots of kickboxing classes) to release the anger and learn to forgive. In the heat of anger you just want to give in and let them have it. I’m telling you, if they came near you the heat radiating off your body would scorch them. LOL! That is the best way I can explain how angry I get when people back me into a corner. Especially, if they insult my character over a minor issue. It’s like come on now, really, you mad about this and causing this tornado.

I know, I’m not the only one who has these experiences. Now, as a follower of Christ, I have learn to not react so hasty. Immediately, under my breathe, I call on Gods name and ask Him for wisdom to speak. Needless to say, people tend to know which strings to pull to bring about the overreactions, which are both familiar and comforting. (Darkness is very alluring, when it can dig its hands into your pride). I have to pray and ask God to control my mouth, mind, heart, and body. Not always easy without the power of Gods grace and mercy

“Take control of what I say, O Lord and guard my lips.” -Psalm 141:3

When I do, God never hesitates to offer help. It will take loads of prayer and practice to reprogram my thoughts and mouth to be discipline, even in unexpected attacks. When I take time to meditate on both of these scriptures, truly I learn Gods capabilities. I begin to see God move on my behalf in ways I never thought possible. When I begin to feed the spirit the promises of God, I see how God moves is incredible. It’s amazing what I have witness when I start to trust God. The protection is there and very real. Knowing the Lord is fighting my battles releases the burden. I can choose to remain silent and calm, because I know that I know God is in control. Reassuring as it is, I thank God for these lessons to hand over the problem to God.

I’m not saying, sit back and let someone just keep insulting you. What I am saying is this. Many times, I have prayed and ask God how to handle altercations. “God how do you want me to handle it? They hurt my feelings. What should I say? Please give me space to speak truth, but always honor you.” God will give you space and time to speak your truth. God will breathe the words in your mouth so you can speak truth. However, the difference is I don’t need to wait for an apology (in most cases, it will never happen). However, I feel relieve knowing I spoke my truth and got it off my chest. I choose to keep my peace, remove all that wants to destroy it. Many people just like to be peace stealers, they enjoy a good argument. LOL! Truly, I say, I don’t have time for it. I need to keep my energy and clarity to focus on doing Gods work.

Give God the controls over the battles in your life. You will witness His power as Lord over His children. God wants to keep His children safe.

  1. Howdy Tiffany, a really good post.

“God will, at times, command you to remain silent while He handles the battle. ” I especially liked this part because its a truth I really need to pay attention to. We really do need to stand firm and see the deliverance of the Lord instead of us always wanting to do the delivering.

“(Darkness is very alluring, when it can dig its hands into your pride). I have to pray and ask God to control my mouth, mind, heart, and body. Not always easy without the power of Gods grace and mercy” – TRUTH!

You are a great writer, lots of wisdom in this post so thanks for sharing. I am sure many can relate, I certainly can.

      1. I feel you! In the same boat with two books I’m writing. 😆 it’s more about finding time and sleep. Been working overtime, haven’t been to the gym. I need to get my body back to balance.
