Music, I’m loving right now!

In the spirit of Christmas, I wanted to do Song Lyric Sunday I found from another blogger. As we all know music does have a huge influence in our lives. Each time, I turn the radio, the exact song fits the current mood or situation I’m facing.

A fun way to discover new tunes and meet new bloggers. Here are the rules:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

My Song choice for this Sunday is a popular Christmas tune, but for me talks about a past I’ve learned to forgive. Take time to read the lyrics.

“Last Christmas” by Wham

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special
Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance
But you still catch my eye
Tell me, baby
Do you recognize me?
Well, it’s been a year
It doesn’t surprise me
(Merry Christmas!) I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying, “I love you, ” I meant it
Now, I know what a fool I’ve been
But if you kissed me now
I know you’d fool me again
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special
A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I’m hiding from you, and your soul of ice
My god, I thought you were someone to rely on
Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man under cover but you tore me apart
Now, I’ve found a real love you’ll never fool me again
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I’ll give it to someone special
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man under cover but you tore him apart
Maybe next year I’ll give it to someone
I’ll give it to someone special

Last Christmas lyrics © Warner/Chappell Music, Inc
I was with my ex for 4 years, we got serious in 2017 by moving in. Well the fairytale turn into a nightmare. When you ask God to reveal the truth and provide the wisdom to make the right decision. So to cut it short, I was very hurt by what I found out and his reaction. I couldn’t fathom why he chose to break my heart into pieces. All of this happen around the holidays. One incident won’t ruin the joy of my holiday experiences every year. I learned a valuable lesson, opposite of what George Michael lyrics says. I learned to value who I am and find out who I really am. I didn’t need to find another quick love interest to subdue the last one. I wouldn’t be fool again, trust me on that! When I walked away, it was a door I enjoyed closing. And will keep it shut, onto the next chapter of my life. I’m loving myself more than I had ever before. Many are broken and hurting.
