Update: January Goals

Wow, that sure was fast. We’re at the end of January already! It feels odd as I wanted to savor every moment, but life moves on. It was an eventful month, safe to say I survived. Thank goodness.

As promised, I thought it was only fitting to give you all an update on my progress thus far. I made a lot of headway through the January goals. My approach this year was to make small changes. Gradually, moving up the ladder, so to speak. Success wouldn’t happen without experiencing some setbacks. We learn through our mistakes.

(Read once a month)

I initially decided to isolate Fridays to read. Eh, it was quite difficult. I find people don’t observe when I have a book in my hand and my eyes fixated on it to indicate, I’m actually reading, 😆! Would it be weird to respond, “I’m invisible!” 😆. I’ve had to turn my phone off, pleasantly decline conversations, and other distractions just to make this happen. I got through it, but I fell short of finishing the book before the end of January. Additionally, due to the fact, the book is incredible. I don’t want to rush through it. I can forgive myself for not meeting this first goal. It sure sparked my creativity. I will share the title and review as soon as I finish.

(Increase Followers)

This has been a great achievement. Partly due to the fact, I love meeting new bloggers. I love to comment and venture into new territory. I’ve been able to broaden my horizon and meet some incredible writers. Remember, I’m an out-of-the box type of person. I’ve been able to increase my followers up to 500. YAY!

But then, I suddenly realized I don’t want to get fixated on numbers. My blog isn’t about the quantity of followers. The blog is really about the quality of my writing. I seek to produce content to motivate others to be true to who they are, to pursue their own dreams, and build an encouraging community. I share almost all of myself, life’s joyful messes, and humor in order to help others. Blogging has been a great way for me to break out of the shell and meet new people. I like to bedazzle you with my words! 🌟 ☺️

(Gym Time)

I made it y’all, I DID IT! Consistency. Yes, every Friday, Saturday, & Sunday faithfully attending the gym. It was not easy, I don’t like getting out of bed or going after pulling 9hrs at work to head to the gym. I’ve had to rely on prayer to get me into the gym. For one thing, it’s very cold and I rather enjoy being at home.

But I always kick my butt and push myself to do it. It’s only 3 days out of the week. I’m taking a yoga class, every Sunday. I actually look forward to it and the instructor is very good. I’m still in the beginner level. I have noticed a change (physically and mentally). It is not easy, because its working on upper body strength. OUCH! I’m so sore, but it’s worth all the flexibility I’ll gain 🧘🏻‍♀️.

Along the way, I’ve met some new friends. Amazing, inspiring women, who make going to the gym fun. Together we motivate each other, trying new ways to get fit, and I encourage them to not feel intimidated by the machines. If I don’t know how to work an equipment, to avoid injuries (I can be a bit clumsy), I just ask. I think I may add on one more day to my routine. Can I make it to the gym at 5am? Do I really want to sacrifice my sleep? 🤔😂

(Daily Journal)

Another successful habit I’m so glad I’m determined to do every single day. I found it would be more beneficial if I do it at night, you know, before bed. I can empty all of the busyness and stress from the day on paper. I can give my mind rest, instead of being bombarded with endless thoughts. Seriously, it takes me a very long time to shut my mind off. And when you’re a writer, we’ll, I’d say my best thoughts come just when I need to be snoring 😴😴. Since, journaling I can say it has helped me get a good nights rest. Plus, I can collect my thoughts to create content for my blog. This is something I advise everyone to try. At first, it may feel useless, but overtime you’ll see it has a great impact on your mental health.

(3 Task)

I always aim to complete 3 task a day. Sometimes, I wasn’t always successful. I’ve had to push back some of them in order to make room for the important deadlines. Or I’d do like most people, juggle 50 million task at once, running myself into the ground. I’m only one person, I need to do my best and let some things work itself out. And I need to plan better, especially with my scheduling. I wouldn’t say I’m a procrastinator, but I let other things blindside me from completing the main priorities.

What I decided to do was lessen the load of commitments I signed up to do. I want to be the hero, but I can’t juggle everything and be 100% at completing it. Time runs away if I allow it. I decided to focus on what I need to complete right now, today. God does say “focus on today and leave tomorrows worries for tomorrow.” In fact, I took a week off from blogging to pray and ask God to help bring balance to my life. Since I am fasting, it is quite difficult for me to focus my thoughts. I find it challenging at times to get my thoughts together in a collective and coherent matter. This is my last week to fast, keep me in prayer.

I say overall, I am moving along in some of my goals. I’d like to adjust some. I’ll post my goals for February soon. It’s not about boasting about success, its about documenting my journey. I can see what worked and what didn’t. Maybe offer some suggestions to help others. Taking it one day at a time, in small increments can lead to more success. You either grow from it or remain the same.

Lets evolve.

Learn to grow!

    1. Oh I’m so happy to be able to inspire you. 🤗 I remember very much how the struggle was going back to the gym. I fell off in December when I got sick. I kept making promises to go, but never made it. I just started slow, one day a week. If I could commit to that, then I’d made progress. I think on how appreciative I am for the small steps and having people like you and others inspire me to believe I can do it. Seriously, this comment brighten my day even more. I am so happy to have helped you 🤗 you can do it now!

    1. I can relate. I have a bad habit of multitasking and keep piling on more when I haven’t finish what I have on my plate. But this challenge makes it better, because I can be more specific about my goals. And make them realistic goals. I’m glad to inspire you. I pray you have great month. 🙏🏼
