Sometimes, I’m not always strong.
I’m not confident.
Sometimes I can’t encourage myself.
I feel insecure.
I feel ashamed.
I look strong, but feel weak.
I appear to have it altogether, but feel like breaking.
Feel like slipping away.
Feel like falling.
It appears as if words don’t hurt me, but I have bruises.
We wear a mask to the world. When no one is looking. When we are alone. The mask comes off. We put on a front to appear happy, but we are hurting. The weight of depression is heavy. The difference, how we handle it. Feelings are valid. Nor should they be ignored. We should regard our feelings, but only temporarily. Never linger to long. It’s not supposed to be a permanent state.
Acknowledge the existence of your feelings. Identify the origin and triggers. Create a safe space to unleash them. Don’t go through the pain alone. Surround yourself with a support system. People who will help unload some of the weight. People who will listen and help dry your tears.
There is joy living on the inside. Jesus is the way to tap into your joy. He is more than a friend. Jesus is the way out of depression and into love. Welcome compassion and kindness to fill your heart. Surround yourself with love. Because you are loved. You, my dear friend are loved.
